A weekly active antenatal class for expectant mums to help you enjoy pregnancy, stay mobile, learn about your changing baby and body, and prepare for a confident birth.

Classes are booked in a course of 6 weeks at a time but are designed to carry you through from early pregnancy right up until your baby’s birthing day.

An active birth workshop for mum and her birth companion that will not only cover all of the basics of antenatal education and an active, informed birth but give you both the space to prepare as a team and confidently plan for your baby’s birthing day.

Workshops are delivered in one 4-hour session.

The Confident Birth Class

A weekly active antenatal class for expectant mums to help you enjoy pregnancy, stay mobile, learn about your changing baby and body, and prepare for a confident birth.


When it comes to the early (or in fact any) stage of pregnancy, any number of emotions can overwhelm us: excitement, fear, anxiety, delight, uncertainty, confusion – and these may well be ever-changing! The Confident Birth Class helps expectant mums enjoy a positive pregnancy and prepare for a confident birth. This first step of your pre/postnatal support takes the best elements of mind/body movement, antenatal education, active birth and hypnobirthing and wraps all of these together in a powerful 'active antenatal' model that allows you the confidence that comes from realising you can do this.


Enjoying a positive pregnancy, preparing for your confident birth and cutting through the overwhelm that can come from all the confusing advice out there is the first step on this amazing journey of pre/postnatal support to confident motherhood.

You'll learn breathing techniques, active birth positions and working with the hormones of labour, to understanding your pain relief options, the stages of labour and practical tools for each stage - these classes help you prepare for birth feeling calmer, more informed and more confident. From easing pregnancy ailments, adapting to your changing body, preparing for birth and informing your own individual choices – we’ve got you covered. 


Classes are for expectant mums only, are suitable to attend from 14 weeks pregnant right up until baby’s birth, and are adapted to suit all pregnancy related conditions and birth plans with ease. The class is a perfect precursor to the birth workshop or as a stand alone course. Classes are 90 mins long, are delivered in a floor-based, yoga-mat style class environment and are booked in a course of 6 weeks at a time - but are designed to carry you through from early pregnancy right up until your baby’s birthing day.

Meet your teacher...

I’m Sian Gilmartin, a women’s health educator, coach and perinatal teacher trainer with over 15 years of experience supporting women through pregnancy, birth, postnatal recovery and early motherhood.


I’m the founder and former director of The Daisy Foundation, a national antenatal and postnatal education organisation created to offer calm, continuous and evidence-informed support throughout the perinatal journey. In 2018, I was honoured to receive the MaMa Awards Maternity Innovator of the Year award for my work developing Daisy’s unique approach to continuous perinatal support.​

​My background brings together clinical hypnotherapy, antenatal/postnatal education, active birth preparation, hypnobirthing, pregnancy and postnatal movement, infant feeding support, baby massage and active bonding, women’s health coaching and holistic wellbeing education. I am also currently studying for a Master of Public Health, specialising in women’s health and wellbeing, which continues to shape my evidence-informed and whole-person approach to supporting women and families.

Above all, my classes are designed to help you feel calmer, more informed and more confident as you prepare to welcome your baby. They are warm, supportive and down-to-earth spaces where you can slow down, ask questions, connect with your body and your baby, and feel genuinely supported through this important chapter of life.

The Confident Birth Workshop

A practical and empowering birth preparation workshop for expectant mums and their birth partner, designed to help you prepare for labour, birth and the early hours with your baby feeling calmer, more informed and more confident together.

When it comes to preparing for your baby’s birth, making the time and space to prepare together in a way that feels supportive, practical and reassuring can feel surprisingly difficult. The Confident Birth Workshop helps expectant mums and their birth partner cut through the overwhelm, understand what really matters in labour and birth, and approach the experience feeling more connected and prepared as a team.

This immersive workshop blends the best elements of active birth, antenatal education and hypnobirthing into one powerful and down-to-earth birth preparation experience. Through practical education, demonstration, breathing techniques and partner support tools, you'll build the confidence that comes from understanding how birth works, what your options are, and how to work with your body during labour.

Preparing for your confident birth experience together - and feeling reassured that your birth partner knows how to support you calmly and effectively - is an important step on this amazing journey into parenthood.

 

You'll explore breathing techniques, active birth positions and working with gravity and the hormones of labour, alongside understanding the stages of labour, pain relief options, labour positions, birth partner support, massage for labour, informed decision making and practical tools for each stage of birth. The workshop is designed to help you both feel calmer, more connected and more confident approaching your baby’s birthing day.

The Confident Birth Workshop is for expectant mums and their chosen birth partner, is suitable to attend from around 28–30 weeks pregnant right up until baby’s birth, and is adapted to suit all pregnancy related conditions, birth plans and modes of birth with ease. The Workshop is a perfect companion to the weekly birth class or as a stand alone and is delivered in a relaxed, informal and supportive environment and lasts approximately 4 hours, including breaks and refreshments.
